Community:

Involved with Gluster since 2009 as a community support leader on the #gluster IRC channel, bringing it from 20 people and no support to averaging 220 people with around-the-clock community provided support. We provide one of the most friendly and skilled support channels on IRC. Received the "Hacker of the Year" award in 2010 and was named to the GlusterFS Advisory Board.

2007 - 2014: Ed Wyse & Co, Inc.

Sr. Systems Engineer

Responsible for datacenter servers and wide area network encompassing 27 locations with critical uptime needs. Reduced the annual IT budget by 20% by switching to more cost effective networking protocols and providers. Reduced the budget an additional 20% by implementing a voip telephone system. Introduced failover and peering redundancy for all network services. Virtualized servers using xen, but migrated to kvm for ease of management as we're primarily RHEL/CentOS shop. Implmented puppet configuration management and Icinga (nagios) monitoring.

1998 - 2007: Self Employed

Operated my own business installing, maintaining, upgrading, and providing various levels of hardware, software, training and other service and support to a myrriad of customers in various industries.

Sold my business because Ed Wyse & Co. needed my services enough to satifsy my requirements and hired me full time.

2006 - Present: Gaealink.net

I own and operate an internet service hosting business providing email, web and ftp hosting as well as offering offsite backup services. I develop php scripts and html pages that pass W3 and CSS standards. I manage all aspects of this business.

1994 - 1998: US Micro

On-Site Network Technician. Installed countless networks using Tokenring, ArcNet, 10base2, 10baseT, 100baseT, Appletalk, ISDN, and Frame Relay. Supported Netware (2.11+), Unixware, SCO, BSD, Linux, AIX, and Solaris servers. Supported DOS, Windows 3.0, NT, 3.1, 3.11, 2000, and XP workstations. Was self-sufficient and could be sent anywhere and expect to get the job done. Was awarded the "fire extinguisher" for being the technician that could be relied on to be "tossed into the fire" and solve the problems.

1992 - 2000: Pacific Digital Systems, Inc.

Performed all aspects of computer hardware and software service for point-of-sale systems on a piecemeal basis. Installed, upgraded, configured, and customized hardware and software. Coded restaurant management software in C++. Coded the first restaurant "bump screen" in z80 assembly. Updated software for video store management in a language similar to dbase.
